17 Common Safety Issues for the Application of a Five-Axis Simultaneous Machining Center

  1. Operators must undergo rigorous training and pay attention to personal safety and machine safety during operation, following the safety operating procedures for CNC lathes in China when operating the engraving machine.

  2. When adjusting or maintaining the five-axis simultaneous machining center, the machine must be turned off.

  3. Operators should not wear gloves when operating the five-axis simultaneous machining center, as the spindle speed during operation is usually very fast, and accidentally touching the spindle cutting tool could easily pull the glove and hand in, causing injury.

  4. When feeding material, operators must be cautious to avoid hand contact with the cutting edge. Although the five-axis simultaneous machining center is fully automated, material handling is still manual, so caution is necessary.

  5. Operators must follow the safety operating procedures when processing with the five-axis simultaneous machining center, especially for customers who are unfamiliar with the machine.

  6. Since the five-axis simultaneous machining center contains high voltage, do not attempt to repair the electrical appliances inside the control box yourself. If necessary, seek the help of an electrician or the manufacturer to avoid unnecessary accidents.

  7. The power supply voltage should be 380V (or 220V) at 50Hz. If the power supply voltage is unstable or there are high-power electrical devices nearby, a corresponding stable power supply should be provided.

  8. The frequency converter used in the machining center must have good electrical connections. After replacing the spindle, pay attention to the rotation direction of the spindle.

  9. When changing tools in the machining center, do not use excessive force. Tighten the collet just enough to be secure.

  10. When changing tools, the adapter must be installed correctly. Different types of cutting tools require corresponding adapters. When installing the tool, ensure that the adapter is free of debris.

  11. Regularly clean the machine, keeping the ball screw and rail free of debris. After each day's work, clean the ball screw and rail and apply 20# motor oil. If there is an automatic oil dispenser, press it a few times after starting the machine every day.

  12. When transporting the machine, especially over long distances, professional personnel must be present or provide guidance.

  13. When installing the machining center, first insert the collet into the nut, then insert the cutting tool into the collet, and tighten the nut. Otherwise, there may be noise, and the tool may break easily.

  14. Fix the workpiece securely. Due to the variety of products, you can use the universal fixtures provided by our company or fix it according to your own needs.

  15. When starting the machine, make sure to start the cooling water pump, and regularly check the spindle for overheating during production.

  16. After reinstalling the Fanuc system, set the parameters correctly. Make sure the spindle speed is set to the appropriate rate, usually 24000 r/m.

  17. If the machine malfunctions, refer to the user manual or contact us for assistance. Without authorization, do not dismantle or repair the machine to avoid human-caused damage.
