CNC machining technology, as the foundation of contemporary mechanical equipment manufacturing technology, has brought about significant changes in the entire process of mechanical equipment manufacturing. Compared with traditional machining technology, contemporary CNC machining technology differs markedly in aspects such as machining processes, process management, machining equipment, and processing tooling. The CNC lathes we are familiar with have three linear axes: X, Y, and Z. Multi-axis refers to a CNC lathe that has at least a fourth axis. Generally, multi-axis CNC machining refers to machining with more than 4 axes, with 5-axis CNC machining being representative.
Multi-axis CNC machining can simultaneously control the linkage of more than 4 axes, combining the functions of a CNC machining center, CNC boring, and CNC drilling. After a workpiece is clamped once, it can undergo multiple processes such as milling, boring, and drilling on the machining surfaces, effectively avoiding positioning errors caused by multiple installations. This can reduce the production cycle and improve machining accuracy. With the rapid development trend of mold machining technology, higher requirements have been put forward for the machining capabilities and efficiency of machining centers. Therefore, multi-axis CNC machining technology has achieved unprecedented development.
